Sundays Make Better Mondays
Join us for a special three-part series by Andy Sass entitled “Sundays Make Better Mondays”. Andy will explore how our relationship with Jesus that we nourish on Sundays should affect our everyday life on Mondays and throughout the week. On September 13, he begins the series with a look at Matthew 4:1-11 to see how Jesus dealt with temptation. Andy is a retired Free Methodist minister who most recently pastored the Brockport FM church. The series continues through September 2

VBS Sunday in the Park
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Hickory Park on August 23 for our combined worship to celebrate Galaxy VBS 2026! Despite some interesting weather forecasts, God provided a morning of sun and clouds and some sprinkles for us to praise Him and rejoice in the kids and families who took part in our Bergen Community VBS. We were led by the children and family helpers in VBS music, scripture, and prayer, with a message from Pastor Hoyt. A special thank you to our VBS snack c

Bergen Community VBS
We were delighted to have so many children at the Bergen Community's Galaxy VBS at Bergen Evangelical Presbyterian and Bergen United Methodist Churches! We had a great time learning about how God loves us and how we can love others. We hope that each child enjoyed VBS as much as all our volunteers did! Our VBS kids did an amazing job with our Projects with a Purpose mission projects. They assembled 20 birthday cake kits, 40 birthday care bags, and raised $75 to support this m

Sports Camp Concludes
Christian Sports Camp 2026 at Hickory Park in Bergen was an awesome time of fun, friends, fellowship, and faith! Over 50 campers and 30 adult and teen volunteers attended the camp at some point during the week. Impromptu Camp songs, fancy line dances, Jesus rocks, and the full gospel message displayed in sidewalk chalk, were all highlights of this year’s camp. Thank you to all volunteers and helpers who again made camp possible. Over eighty total campers and volunteers on

Sports Camp 2026 Kicks Off
Although we had a couple of sprinkles between 5 and 6, the 2026 Bergen Sports Camp started right on time at 6 pm on Sunday, August 16. The kids participated in soccer, kickball, baseball, and basketball. Four different groups, roughly divided by age, were guided in drills and games in the various sports. All of the participants enjoyed a snack between two periods of activity. The evening ended with Joe leading a very interactive discussion on who was the greatest athlete in t

Organ Concert, May 3, 6 pm
We are delighted to again offer a concert with students from the Eastman School of Music Organ Deptartment. The yearly concert series at Bergen EPC was inspired by the renovation of our 1907 Charles Viner & Son pipe organ in 2023-4. Each year, we strive to have at least one organ concert as part of the series. The concert this year will feature Ali Santos and Matt Luca on Sunday, May 3, at 6 pm. At the age of thirteen, Matt Luca began his journey with the organ, otherwise kno

Many of our teens help lead worship in their churches. Several teens are working at overnight Christian camps for kids this summer. Many teens show up to help at Foodlink and other outreach ministries at the church, like sports camp and the harvest festival. We also have teens that help with multim

Easter Sunrise Service
Easter morning was overcast in Bergen, but the joy of the resurrection filled our hearts as we worshipped together on the hill. Joy, Christin, and Alden led in singing and David read scripture. Pastor Hoyt reminded us of the hope of the resurrection both in our spiritual lives and in our everyday challenges. We were grateful that the rain ended just before we started to set up and that the wind was neither as strong nor as cold as it sometimes is on the hill. Hot coffee and f

New Carpet for Sanctuary
Monday, January 5, marked the start of the official week-long installation of the new carpet in the sanctuary. However, the work began long before this date, with Dave and Kevin removing the risers on the platform, moving wiring, and making other cosmetic changes to prepare for the new carpet. Also, areas of the flooring had to be patched, and subflooring needed to be installed in much of the sanctuary. David, Jonathan, Rob, and others had to clear all the sound and video equ

Son Risers - Start the New Year
The Son Risers men's group started the new year with a special breakfast on Friday, January 2, 2026. Although the group normally meets each Thursday morning at 6 am, because of the New Years holiday, we meet at 8 am on Friday for a breakfast and time of fellowship. Although we often have young men for our Bible study breakfasts, this week we had almost equal numbers of older and young men. Join us on Thursday mornings as we study the book of James together this winter (and mo

OCC Shoebox Collection Begins
We are now on the third day of our Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection for this year. We have collected 572 boxes so far, with many more expected later in the week. The four trailers are in the parking lot, ready to be filled on Sunday and Monday. It's not too late to bring a shoebox to the church if you want to pack one! We, as a church, have been collecting items for boxes all year, and our packing of shoeboxes formally started at VBS this summer. During VBS, one o

Harvest Festival '25
The 2025 Harvest Festival opened its doors at 6 pm, and the fellowship hall was full of noise and fun for the evening. Although it was a little damp, the rain had basically stopped, and we had lots of people who stopped by for food and fun. Young people and adults were greeted at the street and given candy and trinkets, and over one hundred New Testaments were given out. Once they entered the fellowship hall, there were a variety of games, some done by people in our church an
