We are delighted to again offer a concert with students from the Eastman School of Music Organ Deptartment. The yearly concert series at Bergen EPC was inspired by the renovation of our 1907 Charles Viner & Son pipe organ in 2023-4. Each year, we strive to have at least one organ concert as part of the series. The concert this year will feature Ali Santos and Matt Luca on Sunday, May 3, at 6 pm.

At the age of thirteen, Matt Luca began his journey with the organ, otherwise known as the King of Instruments. Within the year, he applied for his first local chapter AGO scholarship with a program that included Franck’s Pastorale, Op. 19. His studies have spanned Juilliard, Holy Cross, and the Jacobs School of Music before coming to Eastman, where he is now a second-year DMA student. Matt will be playing music by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Julius Reubke, and Johann Sebastian Bach during his part of the concert on Sunday evening.

Ali Santos is a doctoral student at the Eastman School of Music, studying with David Higgs. A recipient of Eastman’s 2023 Gerald Barnes Award for excellence in pipe organ performance, Ali was also a finalist in the 2024 National Young Artist Competition in Organ Playing, hosted by the American Guild of Organists in San Francisco and is the 2025–2026 recipient of the AGO Salisbury Scholarship. She currently serves as Organist and Director of Music at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Webster, NY. Ali will be playing music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ethel Smyth, and Johannes Brahms.

The concert is free, and there is a reception following the performance. Please join us and invite a friend to join you!

The Concert series will continue with a concert in the park during the summer and a final concert at the church during the fall.
