THE 2024 BERGEN COMMUNITY VBS

Coming this AUGUST 21, 22, and 23.

We are still in need of Guides for VBS. These adults will lead the children from one activity to another. The Guides can participate with the group at each location but activities will be led by other adults. There will be at least one teen to help with each group. Contact Pastor Brandt, Pam, or the office if you can help out.

Also, there is a new sign-up sheet in the hall for items for food items for after the Community VBS Worship Service.

About the Program

We’ll be exploring what it was like when Jesus was a kid with activities, crafts, snacks, music, and games. Kids will join together and start the day with an all-VBS Celebration, before separating into their tribes (named for the tribes of Israel) for a Hometown Huddle before heading off to the day’s activities. They will visit Mary’s House to learn about Jesus as a kid, and meet our local doubter, Eunice. Then it’s off to the Marketplace Shops to experience Nazareth’s community, spending their hard-earned shekels at the stalls for carpentry, farming, bead making, and so much more! They can even enjoy snacks from our Marketplace Food Stall. And every day will include Fun and Games to keep the kids focused on Jesus through faith-filled fun! We’ll close our morning with more music and Celebration.

Our mission focus this year is providing clean drinking water, internationally through World Vision’s Kid-to-Kid program ( give clean water ), and nationally through Mari Copeny and Hyrdoviv’s water filter donation program ( Little Miss Flint’s Filter Program ). The VBS participants will be making a coin bank to collect money for the missions as part of the Marketplace Mission stall. We also will be collecting canned goods for our community food pantry located at Bergen UMC, the N. Bergen/Tri-County Rural Outreach Food Pantry.

Registration

Bergen Community VBS is open to all children from age 4 (by Aug 1st) through middle school. If you are a teen, or know a teen who would like to participate, we have assistant leader roles available for you! You will get to take part in this adventure with the younger kids and the adult leaders, and help spread the love of Jesus while having fun.

Our participant registration portal is open for online registration. For in-person registration you can contact our church office, or look for our VBS table at community events like Bergen Park Fest. We always can use volunteers, either during the VBS days themselves, for set up and decoration at the churches, or with planning the VBS.
