EPC General Assembly '23

June 20-22, 2023

Pastor Brandt, Gregg McAllister, and Rob Willhoft were able to spend three days in Denver for the EPC's yearly gathering. The theme of this year's GA was "Sharpen" and the theme verse was Ephesians 4:12

... to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

The emphasis of the assembly was the four EPC priorities:

  • Church Planting

  • Global Movement

  • Church Health

  • Effective Biblical Leadership

These were topics of the four plenary sessions. There were many workshops available at lunchtime and throughout the day on Thursday to dig deeper into these topics. Gregg noted "Our denomination's commitment to reaching the lost was a central emphasis for much of the three days. Our fellow EPC members have a passion for those who have never heard the good news of salvation through Jesus."

Dean Weaver, Stated Clerk 0f the EPC and Teaching Elder, Presbytery of the Alleghenies, reminded us often during the assembly of the importance of Evangelism - "It's the 'E' in EPC", he would often say. Pastor Brandt commented that "We live in an age in which it is vital that pastors and churches stay true to Scripture and telling others about Jesus. For me, General Assembly was a time in which I was encouraged by my fellow pastors and elders to persevere in our God-given task."

Throughout the General Assembly, we were reminded of the 3 Circles evangelism tool. If you have never seen it, there is a short video linked to the 3 Circles logo at the top of this page.

Rob Willhoft will share some highlights with the church during the July 16th worship service. You can learn a lot more about the GA at epc.org/ga/ga2023 and view some of the sessions on the EPC's YouTube site.
